Meet the RETINA Antenna
ATG Solutions developed the RETINA Antenna, a breakthrough Luneburg-lens based antenna, to enable multi-beam, multi-orbit connectivity no matter where you are or what challenges face.
Communication Challenges and RETINA Antenna Capabilities
Imagine your team in a remote location needing to stay connected for critical missions. In the field, reliable and adaptable communication is essential.
The RETINA Antenna is engineered to support multi-beam, multi-orbit connectivity, providing resilient alternatives for troops across diverse operational landscapes. Whether for the Navy, Army, or Marine Corps, the RETINA Antenna adapts to meet the varied needs of military missions.
The RETINA antenna connects to multiple satellites at once – LEO, MEO and GEO – giving users reliable, fast communication wherever they are—even in areas where traditional networks don’t reach. And it does all this with a single system.
Design Approach
ATG Solutions developed the RETINA Antenna with support from a research grant, bringing a new level of innovation to lens-based antennas. This unique, patented design offers multi-beam, multi-orbit connectivity, ensuring users can access LEO, MEO, and GEO satellite constellations seamlessly. RETINA’s Luneburg lens-based approach enables simultaneous, independent beam generation across the entire horizon.
RETINA’s advanced multi-feed architecture delivers persistent, uninterrupted connections, allowing organizations to efficiently leverage multiple commercial satellite providers. The integrated switching matrix supports multi-waveform operation and easily connects to third-party modems and radios. With its all-in-one design, RETINA provides extensive, near horizon-to-horizon coverage from a single Electronically Steerable Antenna (ESA) aperture—making it powerful and exceptionally cost-effective compared to traditional solutions.
Patented Technology
Our patented approach sets RETINA apart. This lens-based antenna includes a sophisticated multi-feed system, with each feed incorporating transmitter and lens elements. These feeds are controlled by an advanced master switching network powered by our proprietary software to deliver seamless, high-performance connections.
The RETINA Antenna’s low Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) design optimizes resource utilization while delivering performance comparable to similar-sized parabolic antennas.
