Principal Engineer, Advanced Technology Grade (ATG) Solutions Hardware

Job Location: Peachtree Corners, GA

Job Description:

As a Principal Engineer on the ATG Solutions Hardware team within Apothym Technologies Group, you are a member of a talented team of engineers who are passionate about developing sophisticated and innovative state-of-the-art antenna systems and satellite terminals to meet a variety of communication needs for US DoD and commercial customers over broad portions of the RF microwave spectrum.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work with a cross-functional team of mechanical, electrical, RF, software, and systems engineers with the goal of designing, building, integrating, testing, and demonstrating next generation antennas for satellite and terrestrial communications systems.

• Responsible for the hands-on design and realization of RF circuits, passive RF components, antennas, and antenna systems.

• A candidate with a broad electrical engineering background may also be responsible for the hands-on design and realization of the analog and digital circuitry needed to power and control the RF circuits and subsystems of their designs.

• Use RF Computer Aided Design software such has Microwave Office and ADS to design and simulate microwave circuits, filters, and other passive and active circuits.

• Use computational electromagnetic analysis software, such as Ansys HFSS, to design and predict performance on various types of antennas and apertures (spiral, sinuous, Vivaldi, patch, slot, horn, etc.)

• Implement various design techniques (materials, shaping, etc.) for RCS mitigation where necessary.

• Implement beamforming and null steering algorithms for antennas in hardware and software.

• Use analog and digital circuit simulation tools, such as Spice and PSpice.

• Collaborate with other engineers and technicians, both internal and external to the company, to realize RF circuit and antenna system designs.

• Participate and guide the testing of RF hardware for required performance metrics: S-Parameters, VSWR, insertion loss, gain, polarization, radar cross section (RCS), etc.

• Investigate new technologies and applications for microwave circuits, radiating apertures and antennas.

• Perform project leadership duties as necessary.

• Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians in the RF design, manufacturing, and test phases of antennas and RF transceiver-related projects and programs.

• Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems involving antenna/sensor-based applications such as electronic warfare, electronic attack, electronic support measures, communications, geolocation, direction finding, etc.

• Interface well with other people at all levels, including customers and suppliers.

• Participate in authoring technical documentation, such as Theory of Operation, User Manuals, patent applications, and technical proposals.

Job Requirements:

• BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a major course of study in electromagnetics and microwave RF.

• Experience with designing, prototyping, and evaluating linearly and circularly polarized planar antennas and arrays.

• Experience with designing, prototyping, and evaluating RF circuits and subsystems.

• Experience with analog and digital circuit design and testing is desired.

• Experience in at least two subject areas typically associated with antennas such as communications, remote sensing, electronic warfare, electromagnetics, and RF hardware.

• Proficient with Microwave Office/Agilent ADS, FEKO, CST, HFSS or similar electromagnetic simulation code, PSPICE, and analytical tools such as MATLAB.

• Proficiency with schematic and printed circuit board CAD software packages, such as Altium Designer, is desired.

• Experience with analog, digital, and RF test equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, RF signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power meters.

• Experience in hands-on testing of microwave components and subsystems and radiated testing of antennas.

• Exceptional verbal and written technical communication skills.

Laboratory Technician -Contractor

Job Location: Peachtree Corners, GA

Job Duration: Approximately 4 weeks

Job Description:

As a Laboratory Technician at ATG Solutions you will participate in the fabrication and assembly of a state-of-the-art antenna system. Specific skills needed for this position are: wire harness assembly, soldering on printed circuit boards, and mechanical assembly of electrical enclosures and subsystems.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work in cooperation with design engineers to fabricate custom electrical wire harnesses for prototype systems.

• Assembly printed circuit boards by soldering surface mount components and securing mechanical components, such as standoffs and electronic power modules.

• Test and validate assembled wire harnesses.

• Participate in assembling RF and electrical enclosures.

Job Requirements:

• Proficient at fabricating multiple conductor wire harnesses.

• Proficient at using soldering equipment.

• Experience using standard bench power supplies and multimeters.

• An ability to read schematic drawings is desired.
